Bromley and Beckenham Membership – Terms and Conditions
Note 1. All information will be handled in a secure and confidential manner and held in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), with details circulated to group coaches/team managers on a need to know basis. The data will only be used for activities related to the Club, the development of the Club and promotions on behalf of our key Club Sponsors. Recipients of the data are reminded that they must maintain the security of information at all times.
Note 2. All reasonable steps will be taken to ensure the safety of members attending the activities organised by the Club. However, sport is not risk-free exercise and all members including junior members and their parents/guardians must be aware that accidents happen and that they must therefore take appropriate steps to ensure their own safety.
I agree to take part in the activities of Bromley & Beckenham Hockey Club and abide by the rules of the club as detailed below:
- All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
- All Members are expected to play and behave with respect for the team and also the competition. Members are expected to avoid conflict and to play the game according to the rules as set out by England Hockey, County, Regional and International bodies.
- All members must treat opponents and team members as they would expect to be treated themselves.
- Be a good sport at all times – win with modesty and lose with dignity.
- Refrain from using bad language.
- Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager if they are going to be late or absent.
- Members must wear suitable kit: astro trainers, shin pads, gum shield, suitable clothing for training in all weathers and club kit for match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager. Face masks and other personal protection equipment are the responsibility of players to provide for themselves and should be used when defending penalty corners.
- Members are expected to wear the official team kit to include shirt, shorts/skirts and socks.
- Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly. Failure to do so may disallow you to be selected for competition sides and to attend training.
- Junior members are not allowed to smoke or consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on Club premises or whilst representing the Club at competitions.
- The Club does not undertake to insure members against personal injury whilst in play, practice or travel. Members are advised to take out personal accident insurance to cover these risks.

- It is expected that Members of the Club will play exclusively for Bromley and Beckenham Hockey Club (with the exception of England Hockey representative teams) and exclusively in League or Cup games.
- The Club may assist in the purchase of specialist equipment (e.g. goalkeeping) on an agreed basis. The equipment remains the property of the Club if the player ceases to be available to play for the Club on a regular basis. In such circumstances, the player may be provided with reimbursement, depending on the initial purchase agreement and the age and condition of the equipment. All purchases made under this arrangement must be agreed by the Treasurer prior to commitment to purchase, and ratified by the Hockey Club's General Committee.
- The Club expects that all members shall make themselves available for umpiring on an occasional basis. They are to support team captains in providing umpires as necessary. Members shall make themselves aware of the current rules of the game.

- In exceptional circumstances, the payment of subscriptions or match fees may be temporarily deferred by prior arrangement with the Treasurer.
