Bromley and Beckenham Hockey Club junior members Code of Conduct
At Bromley and Beckenham hockey club we are delighted to play a part in the development of our junior members, both in terms of their hockey skills and as individuals. We look to provide a friendly, safe and enjoyable environment in
which junior members can learn and develop.
The junior member code of conduct below outlines what we expect from our junior members to support this environment and what they can expect from the club.
I will always:
- Treat others with respect, the way I would like them to treat me. Including my team mates, opposition, coaches, umpires and all others I meet when playing hockey.
- Respect the spirit of fair play in hockey. As well as playing within the rules this also incorporates the concepts of friendship and respect for others.
- Look out for myself and the welfare of others
- Play fairly at all times and do my best
- Be organised and on time
- Wear appropriate club kit to training and/or matches.
- Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, with dignity
- Respect team members and opponents, even when things go wrong
- Behave in a manner that shows myself and Bromley and Beckenham Hockey Club in a positive light
I will never:- Bully or harm deliberately in any way (physical or mental) team members, opponents or their property
- Use inappropriate language or gestures
- Use violence
- Shout or argue with officials, team mates or opponents
- During club events, consume alcohol, smoke or take banned substances.
- Discriminate against others on basis of gender, disability, social class, religion or nationality
- Post comments on websites, email, phone SMS, social media etc relating to other club members or opponents that could offend, upset or bring the club into disrepute.
I can expect to:- Be safe and to feel safe
- Be listened to
- Have fun and enjoy myself playing hockey
- Have a voice in relation to my activities within hockey
- Be treated in an equitable and fair manner with dignity, sensitivity and respect
- Experience competition at a level at which I feel comfortable
- Make complaints and have them dealt with
- Get help against bullies
- Talk to the Club Welfare officer if I have any problems
- Have issues I raise treated with discretion.
